During the school year, Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity of taking one-on-one, weekly instrumental music lessons on the Wisconsin Avenue campus. Private instrument lessons give students an opportunity to develop/enhance skill on a musical instrument, with the goal of eventually participating in a Middle and/or Upper School ensemble. Lessons also provide the essential, instrument-specific focus that an ensemble experience can’t always address.
Sidwell students currently participating in a school instrumental ensemble are strongly encouraged to take private lessons. Lessons provide the invaluable support for the young musician, while challenging the advanced student in need of more demanding repertoire and technique.
