What is Events for Student Scholarships?

The Events for Student Scholarships Program is a series of events benefiting the Sidwell Friends School Financial Aid Program.

For more than 40 years, Sidwell Friends has provided need based financial aid and called on members of the community to participate in making these philanthropic events a success.  Look for information on these events throughout the year in the weekly Parents Association newsletters, there are volunteer opportunities available to fit every schedule!

Sponsorship Opportunities: September 2014 – June 2015

In addition to giving and volunteering, you are invited to consider becoming a program sponsor. Sponsorship is open to individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations.  Overall program sponsorship levels begin at $1,000,specific event sponsorship begins at $500.

By sponsoring the Event for Student Scholarships Program, you are directly supporting the Financial Aid Program.  Please view the sponsorship levels hereSidwell Friends is a leader in financial aid, dedicating 16% of the School’s operating budget to the program.  The average grant is two thirds of tuition and currently one in five students receives some assistance.  The Events for Student Scholarships Program contributes over $600,000 to the student financial aid budget annually.

In addition to overall sponsorship of the program, there are four events planned for the 2014-2015 school year:

1) Next-To-New Sale: October 16 - 18, 2014

2) Out and About with Faculty and Friends: October 2014 – May 2015

3) Online Auction: To Be Announced 

4) Live & Silent Auction: April 18, 2015

5) Tennis Event: May 17, 2015

  • Financial aid includes tuition and non-tuition assistance (e.g., tutoring, after-school care, books, and transportation).
  • The average tuition grant is 2/3 of the tuition.
  • Currently 1 in 5 students receives financial aid assistance.
  • SFS is a leader in dedicating 16% of the tuition income to financial aid.
