Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Northwest Washington, D.C & Bethesda, MD, is seeking a Director of Special Events who is accountable for the design, planning, and execution of the Events for Student Scholarships program, a series of events that raise more than $500,000 annually for student financial aid. The ideal candidate will have a strong fundraising event planning background in an independent school environment and an excellent track record of identifying, recruiting, and supporting volunteers. In addition, the candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in event planning, especially experience running an auction. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The candidate must be able to plan, prioritize, organize, multitask, and follow-through in his or her execution of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be innovative, self-motivated, flexible, and able to problem-solve. A bachelor’s degree is required.
