Three recent Sidwell Friends graduates have earned recognition for their student athletic achievements.
Bowdoin College student Katie Stewart ’08 (pictured) was named a Division III All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. Stewart was recognized as a Second Team choice. The midfielder led the Polar Bears with 44 points this season and was tied for the team lead with 35 goals.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute field hockey student Celena Dopart ’08 was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I At-Large first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Dopart, who now advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration, was one of 12 at-large athletes selected to the first team in the College Division. The aerospace engineering major shared team-high honors this past fall with nine assists and tied for second with 15 points.
Steffi Renninger ’06 earned the Outstanding Female Athlete Award at Sewanee: The University of the South. Renninger earned two letters in basketball before devoting her time to lacrosse, in which she was a two-time All-Region selection and an IWLCA National Senior All-Star. She graduated from the university in May.
Congratulations to all three alumnae!
