Posted: November 21, 2011

Cate Caplin ’76 and Jon Bernthal ’95 were recognized—for work in separate productions—at the annual LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards, which celebrate theatrical excellence and achievement. Thirty-five awards for the 2010-2011 season were bestowed upon 20 different Southern California theater companies and were presented at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Cate Caplin won an Ovation for her choreography of Fascinating Rhythms, produced by the Rubicon Theatre Company. Jon Bernthal played a leading role in John Pollono’s Small Engine Repair, which was named best play in an intimate theater. Produced by theater company Rogue Machine, the play won a total of three Ovations.
