The Sidwell Friends Middle School debate team competed in the fifth and final D.C. Urban Debate League tournament of the season on Saturday, May 19. The team won second place overall for the entire season in both the percentage of debates won (60.4 percent) and total number of debate rounds won (75 for the entire year).
Eighteen SFS students competed in teams of three at the tournament, which pitted more than 150 debaters from 17 different schools against one another. As the debate season progressed, the level of competition increased. Sidwell Friends won half of their matches in the final round, with each team winning at least one round. Congratulations to all who participated this year!
