Former Olympic Medalist Turns to Real Estate Development

Jair Lynch ’89, who won the silver medal in the parallel bars at the Atlanta Olympics, is still comfortable in recreation centers—but this time he’s building them, not competing in them.

The Sidwell Friends graduate founded Jair Lynch Development Partners in 1998. The D.C. company has created 1.65 million square feet worth of schools, housing, commercial buildings, and recreation centers that, in a nod to Lynch’s former career, prioritizes access to physical activity.

But the Olympics aren’t entirely in his past: Lynch serves on the U.S. Olympic Committee and is currently in London, cheering on American athletes in the 2012 Games.
