Catherine Yochum ’11 Wins Gold for Bowdoin at Head of the Charles Regatta

A sophomore at Bowdoin College, Catherine Yochum ’11 is a member the women's crew team, rowing in the varsity four boat. On October 20 in Boston, she and her teammates earned gold medals at the 48th Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest two-day rowing event in the world (9,000 rowers and 300,000 spectators). Racing in the Women's Collegiate Fours event, the Polar Bears topped a field of 38 entries, including Penn State, U. of Chicago, Middlebury, Amherst, Clemson, and West Point. It was the first time any Bowdoin team – men's or women's – had ever won gold at the Head of the Charles. Catherine's boat also won gold in their two prior races this season, at the Textile River and Quinsigamond Snake regattas.
