The English Department’s required four-year program includes three year-long courses followed by semester-long senior electives. Our goal is to share with students the pleasures and powers of language and literature. We will challenge you to read with feeling, think logically, and write persuasively. Through continual class discussions, analytical and creative writing, reading aloud, informal journal writing, and performance work, we will encourage you to risk and refine your written and spoken voice.
