Each one of us can reflect on our personal development in life and recognize the impact of the people who have surrounded us, past and present, from parents and guardians to relatives, friends, teachers, and community leaders. Among those individuals, a select few wield the unique influence of a grandparent. At Sidwell Friends, we recognize the rich contributions of grandparents in our community who have invested themselves in so many ways for the good of the School and its students. 

Our Parent and Grandparent Committee is collaborating with the School’s Advancement department to create opportunities for grandparents to learn about Sidwell Friends, engage in our School community, and philanthropically support the Together We Shine campaign. The Committee is assisting with engagement events and communications planned for grandparents, including our annual Grandparents Day, which is to be held in-person on May 12, 2023.  

At this moment in our School’s history, grandparents are playing a special role in ensuring our ability to shape both current students and future generations of students who will spend formative years in the buildings and on the grounds of Sidwell Friends. 

A growing number of grandparents on the Committee are helping other grandparents connect with their grandchildren, learn about Sidwell Friends, and advance our campaign progress.
