Letter from the Head of School

Letter from the Head of School

Friends,

Thank you for the exceptional generosity you demonstrated during the 2021/22 academic year. This year’s Report on Philanthropy honors that support and celebrates the launch of a campaign that will transform our School, ensuring that this and future generations of Sidwell Friends students receive an extraordinary education grounded in the Quaker values.

Launched during Homecoming weekend, Together We Shine is an ambitious effort that befits our 140-year legacy of educating young people to think independently and act ethically. It underscores our commitment to enduring values and creativity, and to a community where students gain the knowledge, courage, and conviction they need to lead in a changing and challenging world. Now, perhaps more than ever, we need engaged citizens to grapple with big questions and turn answers into action. And we need to reward our faculty and staff for their remarkable commitment to teaching and mentoring our students.

Thank you for investing in Sidwell Friends. Whether you contribute your resources and/or your time, you make a tangible difference to our diverse and dynamic students, and assure that we will, in the Sidwell Friends tradition, continue to nurture their intellectual, spiritual, and emotional lives.

In friendship and with gratitude,

Bryan Garman
Head of School
