Akinyi (Ochieng) Sagoe-Moses ’11 is a strategist and advisor to mission-driven organizations. She credits her Sidwell education with shaping her passion for community stewardship and love of the arts, drawing inspiration from theater with Mr. Elko, literature and playwriting with Mr. Tonken and Ms. Scattergood, and French with Monsieur Guèye. In addition to the FAN-AB, she has also served Sidwell as a New York Regional Club Member, and as a former Clerk of the Black Alumni Alliance.
She currently leads strategic planning and operations at the Autodesk Foundation, which invests in nonprofits and startups tackling social and environmental challenges through design and engineering. Previously, she held leadership roles at APCO, advising corporations, foundations, and nonprofits on social impact across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Akinyi’s expertise in social and economic development has been featured in Forbes, CNBC, BBC, and the World Economic Forum. She serves as Board Chair of SOS Sahel USA, Trustee of Operation Fistula, and Board Member of Princeton in Africa.
She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from Yale University, and has been recognized among the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent under 40.
She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband Lolan, who frequently accompanies her to Sidwell events.
