A Night for Scholars Volunteer Sign-Up

Enthusiastic parents and guardians are invited to join in the planning of A Night for Scholars (ANFS), our spring fundraising event for financial aid. ANFS is a fun, community-wide, adult evening where attendees have the opportunity to support financial aid by attending, purchasing a spot at an SFS experience, raising their hands in support of financial aid, and simply enjoying time with each other. We have many different ways people can volunteer to make this year's ANFS the best one yet.

Volunteer Roles:

Co-chairs are responsible for recruiting volunteers from their division(s), clerking one of the three committees, and planning the event itself—food, flow of the evening, etc.

Committee members are responsible for working under the guidance of their co-chair/clerk to brainstorm ideas and follow up to gain underwriting support, develop SFS experiences to offer as part of A Night for Scholars, and effectively communicate and market the event to parents.

Corporate Underwriting. The goal of this committee is to obtain underwriting for 100% of the cost of the event, estimated at $100,000. We are targeting corporate sponsors. We would like individuals to focus their giving on the Fund a Scholar part of the evening or on providing a SFS experience. This committee’s work needs to start now, with the objective of having reached the underwriting goal by the end of January.

Parties, Packages, and More. The goal of this committee is to organize more than 24 SFS experiences that will be offered at A Night for Scholars. This includes our traditional sign-up parties as well as other events for groups that are only available or interesting because of our SFS connections. Examples from past auctions include an outing for a group with a favorite teacher (birdwatching with Anna Urciolo, art with Sabreena Ahmed).

Communications and Marketing. This committee helps others in our community understand what the night is about, how it works, and why they should want to come.
