Sidwell Friends

Interim Head Football Coach Jamar Chichester ’09 will lead the Quaker program for the 2023 season.

Jamar is well known to the Sidwell Friends School community. A native of Washington, DC, Jamar entered Sidwell Friends as a freshman in 2005. He was a member of the football team throughout his four years as a student, serving as captain his senior year. After graduation, Jamar enrolled at Kenyon College, where he majored in American Studies and was a member of the football and track & field teams.

After graduation, Jamar spent several years in the private sector, where his work focused on educational technology and government consulting. But he remained connected to the sport of football and, in 2018, began coaching with the Woodridge Warriors Youth Organization in Northeast Washington.

A year later he joined the football staff at Sidwell Friends as an assistant coach. He has worked with both offensive and defensive squads and served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach during the 2022 season. In addition, Jamar serves as an assistant coach of the Track & Field team.
