Coach Info

Head Coach Josh Markey enters his fifteenth year with the Sidwell Friends wrestling program and his sixth season as its head coach. After being introduced to the sport as a young teacher at Blair Academy in New Jersey, Josh joined the faculty at Sidwell Friends and served as an assistant to Lou Heberer from 2008 through 2017. Under Coach Markey’s leadership, Sidwell Friends wrestling has captured 10 individual MAC championships, earned 2 individual DC championships, and fought to a second-place team finish in the women’s division at the National Prep Wrestling Tournament. Josh serves as the DC representative to the National Prep Wrestling Board, has volunteered with Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC, and teaches mathematics in the Sidwell Friends middle school. Josh resides in Bethesda with his wife, Emily, and his 2-year-old son, Nicholas.
