Sidwell Friends School has developed a comprehensive Crisis Management Plan to safeguard Sidwell Friends students and employees in the event of a range of crisis contingencies. Emergency first-aid kids, food, water, and student emergency forms have been placed throughout both campuses.
Parents are asked to remain calm and be assured that the school will care for their children in an emergency. Please do not rush to school to pick up your child until you have been instructed by the school to do so.
In most emergency situations, school buildings will be secured from the inside. In some cases, doors will be sealed against toxic agents. Breaking the seal could endanger the lives of those inside. As circumstances permit, the School will make every effort to communicate with parents and let you know when it is safe to pick up your child(ren).
Emergency information concerning evacuation, building lockdown, and options (if any) for picking students up will be placed on the School Hotline (202-537-8176 *3) and on the school website, as well as the Homepage/Emergency News section of this mobile site. Information will also be disseminated through the AlertNow Emergency Notification system (a service that sends phone, text, and email messages using contact information listed in the Parent/Student directory) and through local media outlets, as time and circumstances permit.
